Many hundreds of pages were written and then tossed out over the years. Sometimes, it was quite difficult to cut a scene, or a chapter, or a character (at various times I invented boyfriends for Pamela, but none of them made the final cut).
At any rate, here are just a few of the things that did not appear in the final version of The Velveteen Daughter.
